Emperor is one of my favorite bands, but this isn't their best album. This album is the least "Emperor sounding" of all their releases. It is progressive, technical, and has the best production, a far cry from the same Emperor that gave us "Wrath of the Tyrant"/5(72).

Back in the day, UK fans of John Williams and Star Wars had a choice between the single LP version issued in the UK (with its somewhat arse-about-face track listing, subsequently reproduced on a very poor sounding CD circa when the new digital format was still in its infancy) - or, if you were fortunate enough to find a copy, the US double /5(83).

Next to his tune 'Network' (which was released on Symmetry a year prior) this is my favourite work from Emperor to date. His second EP entitled 'Into Black' simply doesn't share the same level of quality and replay value that this one does.
